90min journalist, Graeme Bailey, recently claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could take a chance and still look to sign Wolves outcast Adama Traore before the end of the summer transfer window.

Spurs have splashed the cash this summer, spending a whopping £107.91, according to Transfermarkt, on superstars like Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, and Clement Lenglet to name a few. However, it looks like they could still have business to do before the end of the window.

According to Bailey, Antonio Conte’s side could still look to bring in a right-wing back and believes Traore, who has long been adored by the club but could face competition from a rival.

Bailey said on the Pre-Match pod, “Tottenham still one of the teams looking at Adama Traore. Adama Traore still sat on the shelf there Craig I think, and I know you’re a big fan of his, I think a Chelsea or Tottenham if they still need a right-back, I think one of them two might take a little chance on Adama”. TIF Thoughts on Traore to Spurs…

Despite having already bought in two right-back options this summer in Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie, Conte has continued to start Emerson Royal, who faced criticism for his play during his maiden campaign at the club last season.

However, it is hard to see how Traore, who has been hailed as ‘unplayable’, would fair much better than Royal, or even the likes of Spence once given the time to develop and settle into the squad. Traore has found it hard to find consistent football recently, making just 20 league appearances last year with one goal, before being shipped off to Barcelona on loan, where he picked up two assists in 11 La Liga appearances.

It is currently unknown how much it would take to bring Traore in, but with the recent injury to Cristian Romero and their desire to bring in an attacking midfielder, it feels like their money could be spent better elsewhere. At this point, Traore feels like an unnecessary pickup.
