Journalist Michael Bridge has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are still looking for an attacking midfielder in this summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur have had one of the busiest transfer windows in the Premier League after they have made six new additions to their squad, but one position that they are yet to strengthen is the attacking midfield area of the pitch.

They have been linked to several players who occupy that position, such as James Maddison, Lucas Paqueta, and Nicolo Zaniolo as Antonio Conte is fond of the area of adding some creativity to his side.

With Spurs not really having a natural creative midfielder in his squad currently, Bridge spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that they’ll still be in the market for one this summer, and potentially another central defender to bolster the defensive unit.

“I’ve said for the last couple of weeks, I think they’ll look for an attack-minded midfielder and, potentially, another central defender,” Bridge said.

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…

Although Bridge has claimed that Conte is interested in bringing an attacking midfielder to his squad this summer, the formation he opts for typically does not feature someone of that role, it has two central midfielders and then a front three, which brought him success last season when finishing fourth.

The attacking threat for Spurs typically comes from the wide areas, and we saw that last season when Dejan Kulusevski netted five times and chipped in with eight assists in 18 games and Heung-min Son was the joint top goal scorer in the league with 23 goals and he also chipped in with nine assists.

However, with Spurs playing in the Champions League this season, they might look to bring in a creative player, so that they can change things up and offer them a different dimension in attack, so it will be interesting to see if they do bring someone in, how that will have an impact on the shape.
