Journalist Alasdair Gold has revealed that Emerson Royal left Antonio Conte ‘furious’ during Tottenham Hotspur’s last match

In their most recent Premier League outing, Spurs took on Wolves at home and managed to claim a 1-0 win in a close game thanks to a single second-half goal from Harry Kane.

However, with the game so tight, Conte would have wanted to see his team add another goal to seal the win but it seems as though Emerson was unable to contribute to the attack when needed.

Indeed, in the Tottenham player ratings for football.london, Gold noted that the wingback was poor in the final third and one inaccurate cross, in particular, left the club’s manager rather angry.

Giving Emerson a 6/10 for his display, the journalist wrote: “Plenty of enthusiasm but his decision-making in the final third let him down and brought one furious moment from Conte with a low cross behind everyone.”

TIF thoughts on Emerson Royal and Tottenham Hotspur…

According to SofaScore, Emerson attempted five crosses but was only successful with one of them, so it’s easy to see why Conte may have run out of patience with the Brazilian’s attacking exploits.

On top of that, he failed to complete any of his two attempted long balls, didn’t manage to have any shots or provide a key pass either and lost the ball 11 times, so it’s fair to say he did struggle in the final third just as Gold makes clear.

In the end, Spurs and Conte will no doubt be most happy with the three points and the clean sheet but with Matt Doherty and Djed Spence waiting in the wings and able to come in for Emerson, the 23-year-old may need to step up next week if he is to keep his spot in the team.
