Insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham United’s bid for Amadou Onana could spell trouble for Tomas Soucek’s future.

Ex recently revealed that the Hammers have seen a transfer offer in the region of €23m (£19.8m) rejected for the 20-year-old Lille midfielder.

While that has been going on, much speculation has grown in the background regarding Soucek and his future, with the Czech international yet to sign a new contract.

While talking about it all on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex stated that this recent bid for Onana could mean the club’s 27-year-old midfielder could be on his way out with ‘a number of clubs’ possibly ready to make an offer.

The insider said: “What it [the interest in Onana] does suggest, though, is something that we talked about the start of the window, that Tomas Soucek’s future could be in doubt.

“Now, the club have told me they will look to renew his contract or give him a new contract in September when the transfer window’s closed.

“But there has been talk that Soucek could possibly move on if an offer comes in for him. And there are a number of clubs that are kind of on the peripherals of making an offer. So it’ll be interesting to see what happens with him.”

TIF Thoughts on Tomas Soucek and West Ham…

Soucek does actually still have a contract that runs until 2024, so it’s not as if West Ham need to sell him this summer to ensure they claim a transfer fee for their man.

Even so, it does sound as if David Moyes and co want to have a little more clarity regarding his future – whether it be with the Hammers or elsewhere.

Indeed, Ex’s claim that they will offer him a contract when the window closes suggests as much. However, the fact that they will consider bids for Soucek does also imply that his situation is flexible as it stands.

Adding to the uncertainty, this latest bid for Onana certainly shows that West Ham are in the market for a new midfielder and could perhaps be planning for a circumstance where Soucek departs.
