Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek will be offered a new contract but his situation ‘remains unclear’.

In the early stages of the summer it was reported that the Czech international could end up being sold. Despite that, the club seemed to try and advance contract talks but to not avail.

As the situation continues to develop, it looks as though West Ham will be prepared to offer Soucek a new deal when the window closes. However, because of the uncertainty over his future, David Moyes and co could entertain a decent offer should it arrive before the market slams shut.

While speaking about the midfielder on The West Ham Way Patreon, Ex said: “New contracts are said to be ready to be offered to [Jarrod] Bowen, Soucek and [Manuel] Lanzini when the window closes.

“Although Soucek’s position still remains unclear with the club still prepared to listen to decent offers for him should we receive them.”

TIF thoughts on Tomas Soucek and West Ham…

While some fans may well be delighted to hear that the club are keen on tying down Bowen, Soucek and Lanzini to longer deals, they could fear that at least one of those players could be sold before anything is agreed.

Indeed, considering all the aforementioned uncertainty surrounding Soucek, it wouldn’t be a huge shock to see him depart this summer.

Even so, it does seem as though only a good offer would tempt West Ham into a sale. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean the Czech player would sign a new deal if he is still with the club next season.

He still has a contract that runs until 2024, so there’s no great rush to offload him just yet. But if the Premier League club want to get maximum value for the 27-year-old – and if he won’t commit his future to the Irons – a sale may have to happen this summer.
