Presenter ExWHUemployee has provided an update on West Ham United transfer target Arnaut Danjuma as rumours heat up.

Not that long ago, it was revealed that the Villarreal winger was indeed on the club’s radar, with a possible summer move being lined up.

Following up on this information, Ex has now stated that ‘talks’ are on going with the Spanish club, but they are in no rush to seal their key man. On top of that, nothing has been directly discussed with Danjuma as of yet regarding personal terms.

Even so, the insider still revealed that the player has ‘strong links’ to London with some of his family still living here and that the player is keen on joining the Hammers.

Ex revealed as much in a recent post on The West Ham Way Patreon page, writing: “I am lucky enough to have spoken to a few people from the Villarreal side of things (one of which is very close to Danjuma) and they have provided me with an update on the Danjuma situation.

“Talks were ongoing with the club but there is no real rush to sell him and the club believe they are negotiating from a position of strength because of their successful run in the Champions league.”

He then added: “Rob Newman and the club were said to be keen admirers of the player although the club had previously turned down the chance to sign him last summer. Talks had started over a price for the player but nothing has been discussed in terms of personal terms.

“Once the price and wages of the player are known they will be presented to Moyes who will make a decision on whether he wants the club to get the deal, although it is thought at this stage that Moyes has his doubts and might pull the deal. One of the factors he is considering is whether the player does in fact have the right personality to fit in with our squad.

Should West Ham spend £40m to sign Arnaut Danjuma?

“Whilst the player has strong links to London (some of his family live here and he is here now) and he is said to be keen on a move to West Ham he will not rush into a decision. It is felt that the player is continually going to improve at a rapid rate and this will be showcased at the World Cup where he hopes to star for Holland. So he may have even more options available to him in January should this happen. Therefore he will only move if the move feels completely right for him this summer.

“As the deal develops we will keep you updated as always but we do not believe the deal is as close as some have made out.”

TIF thoughts on Arnaut Danjuma and West Ham…

Having scored 16 times and provided fours assists in all competitions last season, it’s easy to see why Danjuma is attracting plenty of interest this summer.

However, it is intersting to hear Ex claim that despite all the talk, the deal is not ‘as close’ as some may think. And while the player has family already in England, this will likely be related to the fact that he spent last season at Bournemouth – where he shone in the Championship, scoring 15 goals and adding seven assists.

While there is still clearly a long way to go before this deal gets across the line, with the player reportedly open to a move, it looks as though the ball is in West Ham’s court for now with plenty of factors working in their favour.
