Arsenal could get into a ‘bidding war’ for Amadou Onana this summer, it has been claimed.
According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, West Ham United have recently made a €23m (£19.8m) transfer offer for the Lille midfielder.
However, that bid was rejected, with the Ligue 1 outfit not keen on selling the 20-year-old. Lille may also be holding out for more money, with a number of other Premier League clubs also said to be interested in their man.
Indeed, as posted on The West Ham Way Patreon page, noted insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that Arsenal and David Moyes’ side have ‘similar midfield targets’ and could be pitted against one another in the coming weeks.
He said: “It is thought West Ham are considering whether to make a bid again but there are concerns that Lille want to start a bidding war between West Ham and Arsenal.
“West Ham and Arsenal have similar midfield targets including [Oleksandr] Zinchenko (although his wages are said to be way too high for us), and [Youri] Tielemans of Leicester is another.”

As alluded to by Ex, the Gunners certainly seem to share a keen interest with the Hammers over the possible signing of Manchester City ace Oleksandr Zinchenko.
On top of that, Youri Tielemans of Leicester City has also been linked with Arsenal heavily in recent times, but could end up joining West Ham, according to reports in the Mirror (via TEAMtalk).
With that in mind, it certainly does seem as though the two teams are lining up similar targets in the current transfer window. And with Onana helping Lille pick up some impressive wins in the Champions League last term, it’s not hard to see why he’s attracting interest from Premier League sides.
This deal certainly looks like one to keep an eye on – especially if the two teams do end up being dragged into a bidding war.
