Leeds United have not made an approach for Venezia manager Filippo Inzaghi and have never even considered the Italian to replace Paul Heckingbottom, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The regional newspaper has rebuffed claims from Corriere di Bologna that say Leeds have made a request about the 44-year-old after he led Venezia to the play-offs in their first season back in Serie B.

However it seems that this latest reported update, from a source much closer to home, that Leeds are not at all interested in Inzaghi, with him not on the radar at Elland Road now, nor when Thomas Christiansen was sacked in February.

OPINION

It’s no surprise to see that there’s nothing in the link between Inzaghi and Leeds. If the Whites wanted to change managers this summer, they surely would have already sacked Heckingbottom. It is understood that the United manager is currently on holiday after taking the club to their controversial post-season tour in Myanmar. If Andrea Radrizzani wanted him gone then surely he would have done so before he went on holiday and he definitely would have done it before the tour of Myanmar. Inzaghi’s season is not yet over with Venezia either as they aim to win back-to-back promotions under his leadership. Bologna look as though they are most-likely to appoint the ex-AC Milan forward as their next manager while Parma are also said to have been interested in him. However with the Leeds link rubbished, there’s every chance that the Parma link is also wide of the mark.
