Leeds United are reportedly discussing the possibility of hiring Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister as an interim manager duo until the end of the season.
As things stand, the Yorkshire club have Michael Skubala in charge of the first team for the time being following the sacking of Jesse Marsch earlier this month.
Following their recent 1-0 Premier League defeat to Everton, this has left the Yorkshire club in the relegation zone with just 19 points on the board.
This has apparently since led to the club’s board reconsidering their stance about who they want to have in charge of the team and for how long.
According to a recent report from Football Insider, the Leeds hierarchy are considering bringing in Gerrard and McAllister to overlook the remainder of the season amid doubts Skubala has what it takes to keep the club in the Premier League.
The club have been unsuccessful in their efforts to hire a new permanent manager, as Arne Slot and Androni Iraola apparently rejected the chance to replace Marsch.
Gerrard’s first professional job as a manager saw him take charge of 192 matches with Rangers, winning 124 of them and securing the SPFL title in the 2020/21 season by going unbeaten throughout the campaign.
The former Liverpool captain then took over at Aston Villa in November 2021 before getting sacked in October with just 13 wins in 40 games with the Midlands club, where he had McAllister as his assistant coach.

With the duo having shown that they can be successful in Scotland and then having experience of managing in the Premier League, this makes it easy to see why the Leeds hierarchy may see them as a suitable interim option to get the Whites out of danger this season.
However, with the former Villa coaches only managing to win two of the 11 league games they had in charge of the Midlands club before getting sacked earlier this season, this may not make them the best option for Leeds who need as many points as possible to avoid relegation.
