Leeds United are reportedly in talks with Javi Gracia over the current vacant manager position at Elland Road according to Fabrizio Romano.

Having sacked Jesse Marsch earlier this month, the Yorkshire club have had Michael Skubala in the dugout taking care of the first team on a temporary basis.

In terms of looking to hire a new permanent manager, the Whites have seen Arne Slot and Androni Iraola reject the chance to replace Marsch.

Leeds United fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with an easy one: Alan Smith

Now though, it appears that a new name has entered the frame to take the reins at Elland Road.

In a recent Twitter post, Romano had this to say on the matter:

Leeds United are now in talks with Javi Gracia as potential new manager, he’s serious candidate for the job to replace Jesse Marsch.

“Club will make internal decision soon on the manager situation – there are two names in the shortlist.”

Gracia has previous experience of managing in the Premier League as he was Watford’s manager between January 2018 and September 2019.

During that time, the Spaniard overlooked 66 games with the Hornets across all competitions, winning 25, drawing 12 and losing 29.

Would Javi Gracia be a good manager fit for Leeds?

Since then, the 52-year-old has had short stints with Valencia and most recently, Al-Sadd SC, where he left in June and is now without a club.

Given the precarious position Leeds currently find themselves in regarding being involved in a relegation battle, hiring an experienced coach like Gracia who is familiar with the Premier League could be what the Yorkshire club needs to get the team out of bother.

However, with Romano claiming that there is another name the club are considering for the manager position, it seems that a significant decision will have to be made sooner rather than later if they want to see a turnaround in fortunes before the end of the season, or else they could be faced with a return to the Championship.
