Arda Turan

According to reports from The Express yesterday evening, Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan is currently in ‘advanced talks’ with Barcelona regarding a summer move to the Nou Camp.

Despite playing an important role in the Mattress Makers claiming a Europa League title, a Copa del Rey and a La Liga title since his Vincente Calderon arrival in summer 2011, the Turkey skipper hasn’t always been a guaranteed starter under Diego Simeone or the most natural of suitors to his disciplined style of play.

Last week, agent Ahmet Bulut confirmed the 28 year-old’s intentions to leave the Spanish capital outfit this summer, with ‘three teams…the best in English and European football’, allegedly courting in his services. He followed up yesterday by claiming Turan would decide his future within the next four days.

The three English clubs were believed to be Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United. But Barcelona were also linked on Friday and it appears the former Galatasaray talisman is now edging towards a Nou Camp move.

That’s according to The Express, citing Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, who claim the deal could be concluded by the end of the week, with talks already in advanced stages.

Turan’s contract is known to include a £29million release clause, but whether Barcelona will pay it in full remains to be seen. Atletico are believed to be lining up Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla as the Barca-bound winger’s replacement.
