According to reports from Mirror Football yesterday afternoon, Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan is keen on a move to the Premier League this summer.
The Turkey skipper joined the Mattress Makers in summer 2011 after amassing 45 goals and 76 assists in 197 appearances for Galatasaray, and has since gone on to claim a Europa League title, a Copa del Rey and a La Liga title with the Vincente Calderon outfit.
He’s not always been a consistent starter under manager Diego Simeone, however, and according to Mirror Football the 28 year-old is now pushing for a move to England.
“Arda intends to leave Spain this summer. He wants to leave to play in the Premier League,” agent Ahmet Bulut recently told the media.
“Talks are underway with three teams, for the moment I can’t say their names. However, they are the best in English and European football. PSG is a possibility, although Arda has always had the desire to try England.”
It’s believed the three clubs in question are Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United. The Blues have a strong relationship in the transfer market with Atletico – with Thibaut Courtois, Filipe Luis and Diego Costa all former representatives of the Spanish capital outfit – whilst Turan is a known Liverpool fan, having described them as his ‘dream team’ in 2011, as reported by The Express. Meanwhile, United are well-documented long-term admirers.
Turan’s contract is known to include a £29million release clause; but whether any of his Premier League suitors will follow through in activating it remains to be seen.
