Arda Turan

According to reports from The Daily Mail this morning, Barcelona have entered the race to sign Atletico Madrid star Arda Turan.

The Turkey skipper joined the Mattress Makers in summer 2011 after amassing 45 goals and 76 assists in 197 appearances for Galatasaray, and has since gone on to claim a Europa League title, a Copa del Rey and a La Liga title with the Vincente Calderon outfit.

He’s not always been a consistent starter under manager Diego Simeone, however, and according to reports earlier this week the 28 year-old is now pushing for a move to England.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been mooted as potential suitors of the attacking midfielder, but they now face considerable competition for his signature in the form of European Champions Barcelona.

That’s according to The Daily Mail, citing Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, who also claim Barca President Josep Maria Bartomeu has already wrapped up a deal for the 81-cap international – although that is yet to be confirmed by either club or other sources.

Turan’s Vincente Calderon contract has two years remaining and also includes a £29million release clause.
