According to reports from The Telegraph and The Guardian this afternoon, Chelsea have seen a £6million bid for Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic rejected but hope to conclude the deal ‘within 48 hours’.
The Bosnian international is widely expected to leave the Britannia this summer with just a term remaining on his current contract. Potters chief executive Tony Scholes admitted earlier this month that the 28 year-old is most likely holding talks with potential suitors already.
The Blues are targeting the former Portsmouth man as a potential replacement for Petr Cech – whose long-awaited move to Arsenal was confirmed earlier today – whilst Manchester United have also been linked with the 6 foot 6 shot stopper amid uncertainty over the future of current No.1 David De Gea.
According to The Guardian, the Premier League champions’ £6million bid was rejected by Stoke City – just days after they branded a similar offer from Aston Villa as ‘derisory’ – but they still hope a deal can be reached within the next few days.
It’s believed the Potters’ valuation of Begovic stands closer to £10million – but a potential swap deal involving Victor Moses, who spent last season on loan at the Britannia, is still a possibility.
