Former footballer Dion Dublin has admitted that one or two more defeats will make him worry about Frank Lampard’s Everton future.

Lampard was appointed in January and managed to just about keep Everton in the Premier League, but despite signing eight players for a combined total just shy of £70m, he’s not been able to progress his side.

After Monday’s damaging defeat against then-rock-bottom Wolves, Everton find themselves just one point and one place above the Midlands side and the bottom three, so it’s no surprise Dublin is starting to get worried for Lampard’s job.

Following the Wolves clash, Dublin was asked on the Football Daily podcast if he was worried for Lampard and his job at Everton.

He said: “Not yet, another one or two, then yes, without a doubt. Today, he’s going to be angry, Frank, because his team didn’t put the game to bed with the chances they had; they had more chances than Wolves did.”

TIF Thoughts on Lampard’s job…

It’s no surprise that Dublin was asked about Lampard’s job, as the Toffees have managed to win just three games in the league this season which should send alarm bells ringing amongst the Everton fanbase.

The fact that Lampard has not been able to make substantial progress at Everton since the days of Rafael Benitez should suggest that he is perhaps not the man to take them forward.

Everton’s run of fixtures isn’t getting any easier either, with their next two games coming against top-seven opposition in the shape of Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion, so getting anything from those matches will be very difficult and could be the beginning of the end for Lampard.
