Ben Jacobs has been speaking on The Done Deal Show about Everton’s interest in Champions League star Mykhaylo Mudryk.
It has been reported that Everton did indeed lodge a late bid for Mudryk over the summer which was said to be around the £26 million mark plus add-ons and while it was rejected by Shakhtar Donetsk, it would likely now just been laughed at given his performances in the Champions League this season.
Mudryk has managed to net in both of his Champions League appearances this season and looks destined to be leaving the Ukrainian outfit at some point in the near future and the Toffees are still very much interested in the winger according to Jacobs.
Mudryk is still seemingly on Everton’s transfer radar as Jacobs has spoken openly about.
(34:10) “He’s very composed with his feet, he’s fast, particularly his acceleration over short spaces he showed that in the build-up to the goal that he scored, and he’s just a natural finisher and full of assists as well.
Do you want Everton to sign Mudryk?
Yes!
No!
“So there’s a real opportunity for Arsenal if they come in for Mudryk, but there’s a huge amount of interest. Leverkusen would like him, Everton would like him, they’re the club that had a €30 million bid turned down.”
TIF Thoughts on Everton’s interest in Mudryk…
Interestingly, the attacker is currently outshining the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland in the Champions League, with four goal contributions to his name after the completion of matchday two (LiveScore).
It would be a sensational coup for Everton if they could add Mudryk to their ranks, especially when looking at the options currently at Frank Lampard’s disposal because they are very sparse and haven’t been good enough in front of goal.
However, Everton may well have to both break the bank for Mudryk as it’s been claimed by Jacobs, that the Ukrainian winger will cost ‘a lot of money’ if any team is wanting to sign him, and also, the fact he’s openly spoken about a move to Arsenal would suggest he has his heart set on that, making Everton’s situation far more difficult.
It’s no surprise that Everton are still keen on the winger considering how he’s performed in the Champions League, but also because he is now being labelled as the ‘Ukrainian Neymar‘ which is certainly something for people to get excited about.
