Journalist Dean Jones has claimed Everton have no chance of signing top target Mykhaylo Mudryk because he wants to be playing in the Champions League.
The Toffees managed to bolster their squad this summer after selling star man Richarlison earlier in the window, despite the worrying financial problems which have caused concern for the club.
They signed the likes of Amadou Onana, Dwight McNeil, Neal Maupay and James Garner, but it was revealed they tried to make a move for Mudryk late in the window, but their bid was rejected by Shakhtar Donestk.
While the club are eyeing a January swoop for the youngster, Jones recently revealed he has no faith the club can get the deal done amid Arsenal’s interest and the Toffees’ lack of European football.
Jones told GiveMeSport: “He’s one of the hottest prospects around in European football at the moment. Personally, I don’t think Everton have got the clout to get him in their current state.
“The size of the club is fine, but they’re not even knocking on the door of European football at the moment, and that’s where he wants to be. So, any club that’s outside of the Champions League or Europa League, I don’t think [they] have got a chance of getting this guy.”

We feel Jones is completely right in his comments and that there is no chance Everton will be able to convince Mudryk to join the club if the likes of Arsenal are interested, and considering their recent form, in which they are yet to pick up a league win so far this season, this is another factor that will work against them.
The 21-year-old has shown his class over the last two seasons, after he picked up two goals and nine assists in 19 games for the Ukrainian side last season, while so far in 2022/23, he has already grabbed two goals and three assists in just five games, with both strikes coming in the Champions League.
Everton may be a big club in England, but they have a long way to go until they can compete with the Gunners for top signings. and challenging for Europe instead of fighting for their lives in the top flight would be a good start.
