Everton: Jones says club may regret not signing Mohammed Kudus

|

Everton may have missed out on the opportunity to sign Ajax and Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus this summer, who may be being scouted by “bigger clubs” next year.

That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who was speaking to GiveMeSport about the latest news from Goodison Park.

According to The Independent, Frank Lampard’s side made a £15m bid to the Dutch giants in a bid to sign the 22-year-old midfielder on deadline day.

However, Ajax rejected the bid after deeming the 16-time Ghana international an untouchable asset this season.

And Jones believes that Everton’s failure to sign the Ghanaian this summer may come back to bite them, with the midfielder likely to be targeted by some of Europe’s top clubs next summer.

Jones said: “He was class in the Champions League, and by next summer, it won’t just be a case that he is established in that Ajax team, but it might be a case that some bigger clubs are taking note, too.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

We agree with Jones and believe that if Kudus keeps up his current form at Ajax, he may be looked at by some of Europe’s top clubs, in which case, Everton may have missed their opportunity.

The Accra-born midfielder, who has previously been dubbed as “incredible” by former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag, has started this season like a house on fire, having scored six goals and provided one assist in nine appearances so far this campaign according to Transfermarkt, suggesting that he will have a hefty price tag on his head if he keeps this form up for the Eredivisie side.

Indeed, Jones’ view has been vindicated by Kudus’ superb finish at Anfield in midweek, which will no doubt have caught the eyes of many.

Therefore, we believe that Everton may be rueing a missed opportunity regarding the future of Kudus in 12 months’ time.
