Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United could explore a loan move with an option to buy for Layvin Kurzawa.

So far this summer, the likes of Owen Wijndal and Aaron Hickey have both been linked with the Hammers, and so it seems likely that they are trying to sign a new full-back this summer.

However, with those two off to Ajax and Brentford respectively, it seems like the club will have to look elsewhere. This is where the Paris Saint-Germain defender could come in.

Indeed, in a post on The West Ham Way’s Patreon page, Ex claimed that Kurzawa may be a target, though it could depend on whether or not Arthur Masuaku is sold.

Ex wrote: “A name that has been mentioned by us before and seems to be circulating again is the French international defender at PSG, Layvin Marc Kurzawa. The club could explore a loan-to-buy option with the player, although it is thought we have a number of younger targets for this position, too, as Kurzawa is 29 and will be 30 in a couple of months.

“The left-back situation could also depend on whether Masuaku sticks around at the club, and so far we have received no offers for the player. We also have Ben Johnson who has proven that he can play in that position, too. We will update you as we hear things.”

TIF Thoughts on Layvin Kurzawa and West Ham…

Ex only alludes to it, but it does seem as though Masuaku is up for sale this summer. Indeed, Fulham have been linked with a move for him, but as is made clear, no official offer has yet come in.

But if that situation was to change, it looks like Kurzawa could be an option to explore. The 29-year-old made just one appearance for PSG in the entirety of last season and made the bench in Ligue 1 on just two occasions (via Transfermarkt).

With that in mind, it’s easy to see why he could be available in the current window. And due to his lack of recent game time, it may also explain why West Ham may want to only loan him initially and why they would have other targets for the left-back position.
