Journalist Michael Bridge has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are very keen on bringing Anthony Gordon to the club this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in bringing Anthony Gordon to the club before the season starts, but Antonio Conte attempted to lure him away from Everton, in part of a double deal with Richarlison, but that has been completed separately.

However, it has since been claimed that the Toffees are going to offer him a bumper deal, so we shall see how that develops.

Gordon was a mainstay in the Everton side last season, he featured in 40 games in all competitions for the Toffees and picked up the Players Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards at the end of the campaign.

With Gordon being linked to Spurs, Bridge claimed to GiveMeSport that the North London side are very keen on bringing him to the club but Everton have asked them to cool down their interest.

“Tottenham are very, very keen on him, but I think there’s a little thing here where Everton wanted the business done because of FFP.

“I don’t know this for certain, but someone’s told me that Everton have asked Tottenham to cool their interest in Gordon, at least for now,” Bridge said.

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…

With Everton recently losing Richarlison, they might not be keen to let Gordon leave the club as well in the same transfer window, because the Brazilian was the top scorer at the club and Gordon won two awards, so Frank Lampard might have to invest heavily if he was to find replacements for his attacking duo from last term.

Spurs have already made four signings this summer, and the personal terms with Gordon might be relatively simple to agree on, because of the opportunity to play in the Champions League with Tottenham, after finishing fourth last season in the Premier League, but his current contract has three years remaining, so Everton might be reluctant to sell or ask for a significantly high price.
