Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Noni Madueke is on the list for Newcastle United this summer over a potential move to St James’ Park.

There have been reports stating that several Premier League clubs are interested in Noni Madueke this summer, but Newcastle United are the main side who are keen on luring him to the top flight in England.

Madueke had a frustrating season last term for PSV Eindhoven, after he missed large periods of the campaign through injury, meaning that he finished the season on just 18 appearances in the Eredivisie, whilst scoring three goals and adding three assists.

Whilst speaking with GiveMeSport, Jones claimed that Moussa Diaby is the man who Newcastle want but Madueke is somebody who the Magpies faithful should get excited about.

“Moussa Diaby 100% is still the guy that they want in that role, but Madueke, he’s on the list.

“I checked with someone is this a rumour we should take seriously, and they said, ‘yeah, he’s on the list at the moment. It’s not particularly far along, but it’s being worked upon.’ So, that in itself is something I guess that Newcastle fans should be excited about,” Jones said.

TIF Thoughts on Jones’s comments…

Madueke is an England Under-21 international, who has a lot of potential to be a star in the future after he racked up an impressive 14-goal contributions in 35 appearances in all competitions for PSV, but he could prove to be an expensive option for Newcastle because of his age and the fact that he has three years remaining on his contract.

Newcastle have made two signings this summer, but both have been defenders, so Eddie Howe might opt to bring in an attacker next, and Madueke might be keen on coming back to England having described the Premier League as his next step, so could be a realistic option for Eddie Howe.
