Mark Goldbridge has claimed that Arsenal are enhancing their interest in Youri Tielemans in hope that they can sign him this summer.

There have been reports stating that Arsenal have not yet made an official bid for Youri Tielemans, but they have agreed on personal terms with the Belgian midfielder over a potential move to the Emirates this summer.

Tielemans has entered the final 12 months of his contract, and last season for Leicester he scored six times and chipped in with a further four assists in the Premier League, and he has been a constant in the Belgium international squad in recent years.

Mark Goldbridge spoke on the ‘Mark Goldbridge That’s Football’ YouTube channel and claimed that Tielemans is someone who Mikel Arteta is looking at and the Gunners are increasing their interest in him in an attempt to lure him to the club this summer.

(1:35) “It’s something that Arteta is looking at, what I’m told is that Arsenal are really interested in this player, they are enhancing their interest,” Goldbridge said.

TIF Thoughts on Goldbridge’s comments…

Arsenal have acquired the signings of Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira so far this summer, but with the Gunners just missing out on the fourth spot last season to Spurs, so Arteta might be keen to bring in some more talent to ensure that they have a more successful season next term.

Tielemans, who has been called ‘top class’ by Pep Guardiola, would be a good option for Arsenal next season, last season for Leicester he had the fourth-highest average player rating in the squad (7.08), he had the fourth most goal contributions (10) and he created the third most big chances (6), as per Sofascore.

Tielemans operates primarily as a deep-lying midfielder, but he has proven that he can chip in with goals and assists, so he could add something at both ends of the pitch for Arteta, and with him being just 25 years old, he could be part of the long term future at the club.
