Content creator and Football Daily presenter Chris Hamill believes that Oliver Skipp should be looking to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Speaking on the Sunday Vibes show, Hamill weighed in with his opinion amid the ongoing spending spree at Spurs.

Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster arrived before Yves Bissouma joined from Brighton & Hove Albion for an initial £25m, and last week saw Richarlison brought in from Everton in a £60m deal.

Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are the current established pairing in Antonio Conte’s midfield in north London and it is the further addition of Bissouma that has sparked Hamill’s fears for Tottenham’s academy graduate.

He said: “With Bissouma coming in, I think if I was Skipp, I’d be looking to move on if possible.

“I think people want to believe that he’s better than Hojbjerg in certain departments – I don’t necessarily think he is.

“From a selfish squad-building perspective, you keep him, but I don’t think he benefits from having, like, 800 league minutes next season.”

Interestingly, Conte loves the midfielder, which was evident from his desperation to see him back from injury, as well as the praise he has given him previously.

The 21-year-old featured heavily at the start of last season for Spurs under former manager Nuno Espirito Santo before a pelvic injury cut his campaign short back in January.

He made 28 appearances and started 14 of the first 20 Premier League games before the injury. Football.london said his lay-off had left Conte outraged as he looks to develop the player who has ‘great passion’ and had already displayed signs of improvement, according to the Italian.

Like his positional peers at the club, he doesn’t offer much of a threat going forward, but his pass completion rate of 89.5% topped the charts and was just shy of Bissouma’s 89.7% on the south coast last term (FBRef), and his progressive ability appears to be his biggest strength.

Despite Hamill’s theory, it would seem that Skipp is still likely to feature heavily and receive the playing time needed in order to develop other aspects of his game, with Harry Winks arguably the most probable to depart from the Spurs midfield based on the present links between him and a possible move to Everton
