Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Manchester United will likely be looking at current free agent Paulo Dybala this summer.

The Argentine forward has been without a club since the expiry of his contract at Juventus this summer. Now in July with just over a month left of the transfer window, and pre-season starting at many clubs, Dybala is yet to sign on the dotted line elsewhere.

O’Rourke has suggested that Man United will be looking at the former Juventus man, however, telling GiveMeSport: “I think it’s something that they probably are looking at. Dybala’s a free agent, probably one of the best free agents on the market this summer following his contract expiring at Juventus. A quality player we all know Dybala is, it’s just getting him on the pitch.

“He’s had a few fitness problems, I think, over the last few seasons. He’s not an out-and-out goalscorer, which Manchester United are looking for – he’s probably more of a No.10.”

It would certainly be interesting if United did make a move for Dybala, given how close they reportedly are to signing Christian Eriksen, according to Fabrizio Romano. Eriksen, like Dybala, operates primarily as a playmaker. Whether signing one would rule out the other remains to be seen, however.

TIF Thoughts on Pete O’Rourke’s Comments…

Dybala, who was once dubbed as ‘one of the best in the world’ by former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, is 28, and comes off the back of incredible success at Juventus. In truth, a player of his calibre is always going to be looked at by top European clubs. As of right now, though, the lack of rumour mill regarding any potential move to Old Trafford is not exactly suggests that the transfer, as things stand, remains unlikely.

Of course, United’s business could depend on Cristiano Ronaldo’s future, which looks likely to be away from the club, with The Times reporting that he has requested to leave Old Trafford this summer.

If Ronaldo leaves Manchester United this summer, then they may decide to find a replacement. And, as O’Rourke suggested, Dybala could be looked at.
