Dean Jones has provided an update on the future of current free agent and former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen.

The Denmark international was offered a route back into football by Brentford last season, following his collapse at Euro 2020, and instantly looked back to his best, playing a crucial part in the Bees’ Premier League survival.

Interestingly, it has been claimed that Eriksen is on the verge of joining Manchester United after becoming a free agent.

Jones dropped a claim on his future when speaking on The Football Terrace’s The Done Deal Show, saying: “Eriksen is on the verge of signing.

“I do think that the Eriksen signing is pretty significant, and United just need to unveil someone of some authority and significance so that it appeases everyone.”

Based on what Jones has said, it seems as though we can expect Eriksen to be holding up the Manchester United shirt at Old Trafford at some point in the near future. The move would represent Eriksen’s first big transfer since his collapse at Euro 2020. It would speak volumes at just how quickly the midfielder has got back to his best.

TIF Thoughts on Christian Eriksen…

Eriksen would no doubt offer Manchester United that extra creativity in midfield that they so desperately need. Last season, in just half a campaign at Brentford, the former Spurs man managed to create more chances per-90 than Bruno Fernandes. That alone indicates just how much of an impact Eriksen could have at Old Trafford.

Eriksen also had a better output defensively than Fernandes, making more blocks and interceptions per-90, as per Squawka. United had their problems in front of goal last season, netting just 57 – the worst out of the classic top six teams. Eriksen, based on the numbers, could help address that problem.
