Journalist Charles Watts has said that he will ‘eat his hat’ if Arsenal fail to make another transfer this summer.

In the current market, the Gunners have already finalised deals for the likes of Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Gabriel Jesus.

However, as they seem likely to miss out on a deal Raphinha, and will face a big ask to sign Lisandro Martinez, fans may be worried about their business in the remainder of the window.

Despite this concern, Watts has eased any fears by confidently stating that Arsenal will land at least one other player – while naming Youri Tielemans as a likely option.

When speaking on his own YouTube channel, the journalist said (7:38): “There’s no doubt Arsenal not finished in the transfer market, there’s no way. I’ll eat my hat if Arsenal don’t sign anyone between now and the end of the transfer window.

“They’re trying, we know that. They’ve bid for players – haven’t been successful yet but they are trying for players. Whether it will Tielemans to come in, I don’t know – we’ll have to wait and see.

“Like I’ve reported before, that was something that has cooled while they focused on other targets. But the interest was still there. And as I said before, it would not surprise me if they went back in for him at some point during the transfer window because so much of the groundwork for Tielemans and his agents has already been done.”

TIF thoughts on Arsenal’s transfer plans…

As mentioned above, the Gunners could look to raid Leeds United and Ajax for the likes of Raphinha and Martinez – but face competition from the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona and Manchester United for those deals.

However, new targets are emerging all the time. Indeed, French media have recently linked Arsenal with a move for Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

Beyond that, as Watts states, the Premier League outfit are well placed to get a deal for Tielemans across the line at some point. And so, taking everything into account, it’s easy to see why the journalist is so confident more transfers will follow for the Gunners.
