Image for Arsenal: Charles Watts dismisses talk of Lucas Paqueta transfer snub

Journalist Charles Watts has claimed that Lucas Paqueta has not snubbed an Arsenal transfer, contrary to recent reports.

According to French news outlet L’Equipe (via The Express), the Lyon midfielder is not particularly interested in joining the Gunners this summer.

Indeed, the report claims that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are the most likely destinations, with Newcastle United among those to also be snubbed.

However, while speaking on his YouTube channel, Watts has said that it can’t be called a snub if Arsenal haven’t even bid for the Brazilian yet.

He explained: “I saw the stuff today [Thursday] about Paqueta and the ‘snub’. I don’t know how it can be called a snub; I mean, Arsenal haven’t bid for Lucas Paqueta, so he’s not been in a position to snub them or anything.

“He’s a player that they’re interested in – or not interested in, he is a player that they like, who has been on a list of potential players and that’s as far as it’s gone.”

TIF Thoughts on Lucas Paqueta and Arsenal…

The Gunners certainly have been linked with a move Paqueta this summer, as Watts make clear – which has been a source of excitement for some – but evidently no concrete offer has been made yet.

Interestingly enough, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently revealed ‘bids are on the table’ for the Brazil international, but it seems as though Arsenal were not amongst those who made an attempt to sign the midfielder – if Watts’ update is accurate.

All in all, it looks as though there are plenty of teams interested in Paqueta but for now it remains unclear as to who will actually try and sign the player and whether or not he would be happy to join them.
