Goal journalist Robin Bairner has expressed his excitement as Arsenal have been linked with a transfer move for Lucas Paqueta.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently revealed ‘bids are on the table’ for the Brazil international, which has led to plenty of speculation that the Gunners could be one of the interested parties.
While it remains to be seen as to whether or not that mooted interest is really true and if Arsenal end up making a public move for the player, it does sound as if Paqueta could be a good fit, in theory.
Indeed, Bairner took to Twitter to say that the 24-year-old is ‘one of the most watchable players in the world’ and would be a ‘fine addition’ to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
He wrote: “Lucas Paqueta is one of the most watchable players in the world. So graceful on the ball.
“Would be a fine addition to Arsenal and the Premier League. Hope Lyon can get a fair value for him.”
Should Arsenal sign Lucas Paqueta this summer?

TIF thoughts on Lucas Paqueta and Arsenal…
Interestingly enough, with speculation rife, the journalist did follow up on his tweet, saying that he had ‘no inside knowledge’ of a possible deal, while also adding that the player wouldn’t be an ideal replacement for Granit Xhaka, but rather another No 10 option.
With that being the case, it might be hard to see how Paqueta would fit in alongside new midfield signing Fabio Vieira – especially with Martin Odegaard already in the team.
On top of that, Newcastle United have long been linked with a possible move for the Brazilian. So this deal has a few hurdles to overcome before it gets across the line.
Even so, in the eyes of Bairner, if Arsenal really did push for Paqueta, they could end up with a pretty exciting player on their books.
