Journalist Charles Watts has revealed that Arsenal may yet have one more behind-closed-doors friendly before the new season.

The Gunners have recently been over in the United States, where they impressed on their pre-season tour ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Indeed, in games against Everton, Orlando City, and Chelsea, Mikel Arteta’s men scored nine goals, conceded one and won all three matches.

Next on the agenda for Arsenal looks to be a final friendly against Sevilla, taking place on 30th July at the Emirates Stadium. However, when speaking on his YouTube channel, Watts said one more game could be squeezed in before that match against the Spanish outfit.

He explained: “Hopefully now, everyone who’s fit at the moment can stay injury-free, they can go in and have one last game against Sevilla.

“There might be a behind-closed-doors game this week at Colney. Not 100% sure on that yet, but there is a possibility – last time I spoke to someone about it, there was a possibility of squeezing one in.”

TIF Thoughts on Arsenal and pre-season…

Last term, the Gunners started their league campaign in incredibly poor form – losing each of their first three matches – making for their worst start to a season in 67 years.

No doubt, Arteta and co will be keen to put things right this term and impress from the off – with Crystal Palace to play away from home in their first game. With that in mind, it would make sense for them to squeeze in an extra friendly just to get the team’s fitness levels up even more.

For now, it seems as though nothing is confirmed, so perhaps this match will not take place. But it does sound as though the game could go ahead behind closed doors if Arsenal can arrange something swiftly and get more minutes in the tank for those who need them.
