Arsenal: Charles Watts provides positive injury update on Fabio Vieira

Journalist Charles Watts has outlined some good news for Arsenal and Fabio Vieira amid a recent injury scare.

Earlier this month, the new signing was pictured on Instagram (via The Sun) in a protective boot for his left ankle, suggesting that he has sustained a bad injury.

Fortunately, the midfielder was able to allay concerns of anything being too serious as he explained it was ‘just a precaution’ on his Instagram account (via the Mirror).

Even so, having clearly picked up some issue, the full extent of the length of the injury was not fully known, but according to Watts, Vieira is at the Gunners’ pre-season camp in Germany with the protective boot now off.

The journalist said on YouTube: “He had a big protective boot on one of his ankles – and that obviously generated a lot of concern amongst the Arsenal fanbase; like, is he injured already, what’s happened?“

“He then took to social media and explained that it was just a precaution, that he would be joining up with pre-season soon, he told everyone to calm down, it was nothing to worry about.

“And the good news is that Fabio Vieira is now out in Germany with the Arsenal squad – and he’s not wearing that protective boot, not in what we’ve seen of him, anyway.

“That is a very positive sign.”

TIF thoughts on Fabio Vieira and Arsenal…

Arsenal supporters will no doubt be delighted to hear this news, and may hope to even catch a glimpse of the midfielder in a pre-season match soon.

Respected journalist David Ornstein recently said ‘fans can be excited’ about the transfer and so the hype is already beginning to grow over the Portugal international.

It’s not hard to see why, either. After all, he managed to provide 14 assists and six goals while playing in the Liga Portugal with Porto last season.

Taking it all into account, it’s no wonder Watts has called this update Vieira ‘good news’ – although he did state that it may be a little longer before he gets a runout as he is yet to take part in full training.
