Arsenal: Journalist drops huge Gunners transfer claim with eye on sought-after starlet

|

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has hinted on the Back Pages podcast that Arsenal may make a move for Belgian starlet Charles De Ketelaere.

The Leicester City fan was speaking on Leicester Til I Die TV amid the Foxes reported liking for the 21-year-old.

King Charles’ as he has been dubbed is at the centre of an ongoing transfer tussle between Leeds United and Serie A champions in AC Milan but Jacobs has now dropped Arsenal’s hat into the proverbial ring with his latest comments.

The reporter has heard a ‘rumbling’ from the Emirates Stadium that the Gunners are contemplating a switch for the 6 ft 2 centre-forward and is working to clarify that interest.

(57:10)” I know, Leeds are interested and Leicester have always felt in very formative stages of making inquiries that they would be ahead of Leeds in any race for him.

“But as you say, there’s interest from abroad, and there is a rumbling anyway and I’m going to try and stand this up over the next few days, that Arsenal might even be taking a little look at him as well. So we won’t be the only Premier League club and we won’t be the only club across Europe’s kind of major leagues that are looking at a player of his quality. So I would say at the moment, that it’s a case of his own future is still pretty uncertain at this point.”

TIF Thoughts on De Ketelaere and Arsenal…

Would you look to sign CDK?

Yes, it's too good to turn down!

Yes, it's too good to turn down!

No! We have Jesus now.

No! We have Jesus now.

Having just added Gabriel Jesus to the side it would seem unlikely that the north London club would seek a move for the Club Brugge attacker.

However, he has demonstrated his ability to play in a range of positions, including behind the striker, with his capabilities on the ball hailed as ‘phenomenal’ despite his height by journalist Sven Claes.

Furthermore, given Jesus’ strength on the right-wing it would give manager Mikel Arteta plenty of options to consider and adding such a talented youngster  who scored 18 times and produced a further 10 assists last season at the price that is being discussed shouldn’t be frowned upon.
