Journalist Jonathan Veal has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have sent a big message regarding Sergio Reguilon’s future after he wasn’t taken on preseason tour.

This week, while over in South Korea in preparation of the upcoming Premier League season, Spurs will play against the likes of Team K League and then Sevilla.

And while plenty of senior names such as Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Eric Dier will be part of the trip, one notable omission from the travelling squad has raised eyebrows.

Indeed, Reguilon was not added to the team list for the tour and some believe this could suggest Antonio Conte may now be looking to sell the left-back this summer.

Veal certainly seem to subscribe to this idea as he wrote on Twitter: “Sergio Reguilon among those not going on the tour. That’s a big message about his future. [Tanguy] Ndombele, [Giovani] Lo Celso and [Harry] Winks also not travelling.”

Will Sergio Reguilon still be at Spurs by the end of the transfer window??

TIF thoughts on Sergio Reguilon and Spurs…

Reguilon was in and out of the team last season, though that was often related to injury issues. Even so, he started 22 Premier League games in total (via Transfermarkt).
That would have given Conte a good enough opportunity to get a gauge of the player’s quality and perhaps the Italian is now seeking an upgrade if the club can offload the Spaniard this summer.
With Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon able to play in the defend’s position for now, and with Ivan Perisic an option in that role too if needed, Tottenham certainly will feel as though they will be fine for the trip to South Korea.
As for Reguilon though, it really does seem as though they could be looking to push him out the door in the near future.
