Eddie Howe has had a mixed start to his reign as Newcastle manager, picking up two points from his opening three games.

Martin Dubravka returned to the side for the Arsenal defeat and the draw with fellow strugglers Norwich City, and while many fans had been waiting for him to return, he has left them far from impressed.

Can you name who scored the most league goals for Newcastle United in years gone by? Let's see if you can starting with 2020/21

Conceding three times in the two games, the Slovakian goalkeeper has come in for criticism with fans ahead of what you feel is a must win game against Sean Dyche’s Burnley.

What did the Newcastle fans have to say?

“Needs to not make mistakes – club has played without a competent keeper all season.” @TFMick1892

“Reckon if it was darlow fans would be all over him for it. Its just annoying every week its individual errors costing us. Hard to keep watching..” @pelicanrice

“Unfortunately Dubravka has looked worse since Howe arrived.” @stevenmcPGA

“Tbf if we want to be ambitious we might want to look at a new starting ‘keeper. Not right not but if we stay up in the summer we should. Dubravka is good but injury prone, getting old and does make a lot of errors.” @LiberoNUFC

“Dubravka should stay but as a substitute GK, still makes far too many errors. Get Henderson on loan or sign him if possible.” @Gazlar28

“He could get Dubravka some new hands. A bit more robust. That’d be a canny idea.” @PasoPeanuts

Do Newcastle need to sign a new keeper?

No

Yes

Yes

Clearly they aren’t happy with recent performances, but they have defended the shot-stopper in the past given transfer links to other goalkeepers such as Marc Andre ter-Stegen and Thomas Strakosha. Maybe the supporters are making a u-turn on that and would like to see a new ‘keeper through the door in January?

It’s paramount that Dubravka can cut out the ‘mistakes’ he’s made as soon as possible. Howe’s side are the only team in the country without a win this season, a trend that has to change sooner rather than later if they have any chance of surviving the drop.

In other news, Luke Edwards has urged Newcastle to sign this Premier League star…
