Some Leeds United fans flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by sports broadcaster Adam Pope which shared the news that ex-Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen has taken charge of the Panama national team.

Pope’s tweet shares another tweet that was recently posted by the Panamanian Football Federation’s official Twitter account announcing this appointment. That post included a link to an article from the Panamanian Football Federation’s official website which explains that Christiansen will be tasked with qualifying Panama for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Panama are a member of the CONCACAF confederation. As per Goal, FIFA recently confirmed that the September international window in which CONCACAF World Cup qualification was expected to begin, will not go ahead and as a result, ‘CONCACAF will now be forced to alter plans in the run up to the 2022 World Cup.’ This may give Christiansen some more time to prepare his plans for his new team.

After Pope shared that the former Leeds manager has now taken charge of Panama via a tweet, some Whites supporters replied to his post to share their reaction to this news.

Nice easy one to start off with, from which club did Leeds sign Hernandez?

Some Whites fans reflected on Christiansen’s time at Elland Road in response to this post. One Leeds supporter wished the Spaniard luck and declared that he ‘was unlucky at Leeds,’ while another Whites fan suggested that Christiansen ‘deserved better’ at the Yorkshire-based club.

Some Leeds supporters were surprised by this news.

As per the BBC, Christiansen was sacked by Leeds ‘after only eight months in charge at Elland Road.’ With that in mind, it may be understandable why some of these Leeds fans shared that they believe the 47-year-old deserved more time at their club.

Considering that he is moving continent to take charge of Panama, it may also be understandable why some Leeds fans were surprised by this news, however, perhaps Christiansen believes a change of scenery could benefit his career, having also been released after spending less than a year at his most recent club, Royale Union Saint Gilloise.
