The Athletic’s Phil Hay has provided an update on the situation regarding Leeds United’s Adidas kit deal via a recent Q&A session with the fans. The journalist was asked whether there was any word on the deal given the season was halted abruptly, meaning the Whites’ current kit provider Kappa may feel aggrieved.

Hay confirmed that the Adidas deal was ‘done a couple of months ago’ but also clarified the point that the Yorkshire-based club will ‘play in Kappa until the end of the season’ if it is deemed safe for them to do so. According to the Daily Mail, the exact value of the new kit deal will be determined by which division Leeds are playing in next season, however, even if Marcelo Bielsa’s side miss out on promotion, the German sportswear giants will make the club’s kits regardless.

It’s said that the club is ‘on the look-out’ for a new shirt sponsor if they secure a return to the Premier League after much controversy with regards to 32Red. As per the Daily Mail, the existing deal between the firm and Leeds United still has a year to run but having backed Derby County’s signing of Wayne Rooney, the Whites and Preston North End who are also sponsored by them are said to be keen to end their relationships with the company.
