A group of Leeds United supporters have been discussing former star Gary Speed. The Welsh midfielder started his career at Elland Road and represented the senior side between 1988 and 1995 before joining Everton in a deal reportedly worth £4.38m (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
Described by one of his former clubs Bolton Wanderers as a “top-class professional” (as per BBC Sport), Speed sadly took his own life in November 2011 and these fans have been remembering their former hero in response to a post by @LUFCHistory.
The post contained footage of a goal the former Wales boss scored from long-range for the Whites at Southampton, and had supporters flocking to the replies.

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that Speed is still held in extremely high regard by the Leeds United supporters. A title winner with the Whites in the 1991/92 season, after leaving Everton, Speed went on to represent Newcastle United, Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield United before he retired in 2010 (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
