Sheffield Wednesday-focused journalist Dom Howson recently posted a tweet sharing an article that included his thoughts on the future of Owls midfielder Joey Pelupessy.

The article features a Q&A session that Howson recently conducted with the publication’s readers. On the topic of Pelupessy, Howson declared that while the Dutchman, whose contract is currently set to expire at the end of June, “wants to stay at the club”, Wednesday may yet “decide to go in a different direction”.

This post has caught the attention of plenty of Owls supporters, many of whom have shared that they don’t want the 26-year-old midfielder to extend his stay at Hillsborough, with one Owls fan going so far as to declare that they are “genuinely better” than Pelupessy themselves.

Read the responses of some Owls fans to Howson’s recent post in the tweets below.

What do we think?

Pelupessy has featured in only 12 of the Owls’ 37 Championship fixtures this term, as per WhoScored.com. Furthermore, WhoScored have given the Dutchman an average overall rating of 6.45 for his 12 league appearances this term. According to WhoScored, 18 other Wednesday players have earned a higher average overall rating than Pelupessy in the league this season. With that in mind, it may not come as a surprise that these Wednesday fans appear to feel that Pelupessy is surplus to requirements.
