These Leeds United fans are continuing to be impressed by 19-year-old goalkeeper Illan Meslier.
Meslier is yet to feature for Leeds United after joining on loan in the summer, however, should Kiko Casilla be injured/suspended, these fans might feel a little more confident in the young Frenchman should he be called upon. The 19-year-old saved a penalty in the 59th minute, in a U23’s fixture for the Leeds academy.
Here’s what the Leeds United fans had to say about Illan Meslier’s performance:
58′ Lawrence-Gabriel is tripped by Struijk and the referee points to the spot… BUT MESLIER SAVES! 0-1

Great keeper, if FA bans Casilla. Least we’ll be in good hands

Is Illan Meslier good enough to cover Kiko Casilla?
Yes
No
When Meslier was playing for FC Lorient, he kept 11 clean sheets across the 30 outings the 19-year-old had for the first-team.
Meslier’s third penalty save of the season & it’s not even Xmas. Can’t help but think that psychologically it must be really hard to score against someone whose arms seem to reach both posts. #lufc https://t.co/NhiSzwLHDb

If we concede penalties we should just sub Meslier on https://t.co/PSEmeWl7OM

What Do We Think?
With Illan Meslier yet to be given a real chance to prove himself – apart from in academy matches – it’s extremely difficult to predict how well he could play in the Championship. We would suggest that Marcelo Bielsa should perhaps start him in an upcoming match, just to test the waters and get a real gauge for how good the 19-year-old really is, or perhaps even put him in between the sticks when the Whites face Arsenal in the FA Cup.
