These fans have let their feelings be known after Phil Hay commented on Helder Costa’s performance against Cardiff.
Helder Costa actually scored in the match against Cardiff and finished the fixture with a Whoscored rating of 7.8/10, leaving fans slightly disagreeing with some of Hay’s comments about the 25-year-old.
The Portuguese winger has played 22 matches in the Championship this season, with 12 of them coming off the bench. Despite the lack of starts Costa has still managed to score twice and assist once.
Here’s what the Leeds United fans had to say about Phil Hay’s comments:
Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Cardiff saw the good and the bad of Helder Costa. So how is it working out for Leeds’ second most expensive signing after half a season at Elland Road?https://t.co/n7cELz8gu4

I think Costa is coming along fine

He was absolutely brilliant Saturday and most definitely coming into his own with a proper run in the team.

Alright Phil. Think this is a little harsh on costa. He’s starting to show signs of that player we thought we were getting. I’d be more inclined to question the substitutions, you don’t throw on a young man for experience when the away team is pushing. Good read all the same.

When he settles he’ll be worth every penny, it’s like he’s simmering, waiting to come to the boil and set this league alight. He will be the next Pablo Hernandez

Has Helder Costa been a flop this season?
No
Yes
These fans clearly don’t agree with the comments made by Phil Hay, perhaps it’s the lack of goals and assists that it troubling the popular Leeds figure?
Very unfair. No need to be over critical, but Kiko flapped at the cross for the first goal and Berardi gave the ball away one phase before the second goal. No need for naval gazing, for 65 minutes we played the best football for a year. If the players were perfect they’d be in PL

He is amazing when he turns it on but seems to struggle to focus for entire matches and goes AWOL. Hope he can meet his potential, because he has so much talent.

What Do We Think?
We think that Helder Costa just needs more time and more minutes, as starting less than half of his matches really can’t have helped his development as a winger. Marcelo Bielsa should be starting him every game if you want to see his true potential, otherwise, when he starts to find his form, he could just be benched again.
