Leeds United defender Liam Cooper has impressed fans with his ‘extra three or four percent’ comment, which was later quoted on twitter by LUFCDATA.
The comment looked like the type of thing Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa would say, with the Argentine know for his analytical style, which he showed when putting on a PowerPoint presentation for journalists in a news conference.
Despite all the analysis and tactics, The Peacocks have only managed to score 17 goals in the first 14 games of the Championship season.
Liam Cooper: “We’re a big scalp in the Championship. [Opponents] give an extra 3% against us. We have to embrace that and bring our style to fruition, and we have the majority of the time. If we keep creating we are going to win more matches and take more points.”

I love how it’s an extra 3%. He’s obviously worked it out to the nearest whole percent whilst others will simply round to the nearest ten or five. Attention to detail at its finest.

He simply rounded up Bielsas pure mathematics derived 2.964 percent.

Ok Marcelo
Got a Bielsa in the making here #Lufc— Neil (@NeilWil69716245) October 31, 2019
MB stats say 3%, and maybe some decimal points!

Some fans had suggested that the percentage the 28-year-old mentioned should be much higher, however with Leeds currently sitting third in the Championship, it’s likely all teams will up their game against them.
*Extra 20% against us.

Our opponents up their performance by any least 50% after all it’s their cup final

It’s more than 3%. More like 20%

What Do We Think?
It’s good to see that a manager as analytical as Bielsa doesn’t alienate his players. In fact from Cooper’s comment, it seems to be rubbing off on his group of players at Elland Road.
Leeds play QPR on Saturday, which is a fixture they’ve had mixed success in, with The Peacocks winning 50% of the last six games against Rangers, with Mark Warburton’s side winning 33% – as per WhoScored.
Bielsa’s team are winless in their last two matches, so will need to use that “extra 3%” to their advantage if they’re to put an end to their current poor form.
