Lots of Liverpool fans feel as if forgotten man Marko Grujic may be able to make his mark at Anfield next season after a video posted on Twitter showed the midfielder scoring a winning penalty.

Grujic, who rejoined Hertha Berlin on loan for a second season in the summer, netted the winning penalty in Hertha’s 5-4 penalty win over Dynamo Dresden. The 23-year-old midfielder joined the Reds from Red Star Belgrade in 2016 but has yet to really feature in the first team, having made 14 appearances for Klopp’s side; the majority of which came from the bench.

A succession of loan spells has followed for the Serbian international, first sent back to Red Star before a spell with Cardiff in the Championship. Grujic impressed at Hertha Berlin last year, scoring five goals, but was sent back to Germany ahead of this season.

However, after Liverpool fans saw Grujic calmly score a penalty for the German side, many feel he is ready to make an impact in the Premier League, with many suggesting the box-to-box midfielder can be a long-term replacement for James Milner; with the 33-year-old’s contract expiring in the summer.

Some of the best reactions from Liverpool fans to Grujic’s match-winning penalty can be seen in the tweets below.

These tweets clearly show that Liverpool fans are eager to see the Serbian midfielder return to Anfield and push for a starting spot next season.

What do we think?

Grujic has had a fairly promising start to the season with Hertha Berlin, averaging a 6.94 and scoring twice in nine games thus far. It seems as if the 23-year-old is beginning to find his feet in the Bundesliga and more promising displays may see him enter into Klopp’s thinking ahead of next season. The Reds have the likes of Adam Lallana and James Milner with the club, who could both leave in the summer with both of their contracts set to expire, so it is easy to see how Grujic could finally become a regular member in the Liverpool squad next season.

Although, there is the option of an extra year in Lallana’s contract.
