Celtic fans on Twitter are enjoying the news of goalkeeper Scott Bain signing a new deal with the club.

The 27-year-old put pen to paper and extended his stay at Parkhead until the summer of 2023. He lost his place to on-loan shot-stopper Fraser Forster in the Bhoys starting 11 after injuring his thumb back in August.

“It’s fantastic to get it done,” he told Celtic TV.

“It lets me fully focus on getting fit and getting back in the team.

“It’s something that’s been in the works for a while, so I’m glad to finally have it finalised.”

Fans on Twitter have reacted positively to the news of Bain’s new deal.

What do we think?

Bain had the misfortune of injuring his thumb back in August and losing his place to the in-form Fraser Forster. Indeed, prior to his injury, the 27-year-old looked to be in fine form for the Bhoys and a mainstay of the side as he made 31 appearances across all competitions last season (per TransferMarkt).

Celtic are now stacked in the goalkeeping department but this news could mean the chances of securing Forster on a permanent basis are less likely than first thought. With the former England international currently prime and in position as Neil Lennon’s number one, Bain may have to be patient and wait once again for his chance to prove he can be the best choice between the sticks.
