Leeds United first-team duo Barry Douglas and Kalvin Phillips were at Anfield on Tuesday night watching Liverpool beat Barcelona.

Douglas revealed that the Leeds pair soaked in the atmosphere at Anfield as Liverpool beat Barcelona 4-0 to reach the Champions League final by posting a picture of them together at the game on his personal Instagram account.

The Leeds left-back simply captioned the picture “Champs League Tuesday.”

OPINION

Phillips and Douglas have had a dramatic season at Elland Road in their current campaign but it seems both experienced even more drama as spectators on Tuesday. Not many would have predicted the Reds being able to beat Barcelona 4-0 in order to eliminate them from the Champions League as in the first-leg Barca racked up a comfortable 3-0 win. However Jurgen Klopp’s side defied the odds and hopefully Phillips as well as Douglas took inspiration from what they saw. This is because Leeds are set to take part in the play-offs in the coming days and are within touching distance of the Premier League if they play their cards right. While Douglas won’t be able to help Leeds personally by being on the pitch as he is still stuck on the sidelines with an injury, it doesn’t mean he can’t help inspire his teammates from the stands. As for Phillips, he can help Marcelo Bielsa’s side on the pitch. The midfielder has wowed more often than not for Leeds this season and if he delivers the performances he is capable of, Leeds’ hopes of winning the play-offs will be stronger for it.
