Ian Holloway heaped praise on Leeds United after watching their 1-0 win over Bristol City on Saturday.

The former QPR manager shared that he thought the Whites had everything going for them but believes the most impressive thing Marcelo Bielsa had brought to the club was the fact he had got the front players to close down their opponents.

Holloway noted that due to Leeds’ forward players pressing their opponents when they were in possession it alleviated some of the pressure that is on the defence.

“Well I think that’s the most impressive thing of all that Bielsa has brought them is the closing and pressing by the front players, which alleviates the pressure at the back, they’re looking like they’ve got everything going for them,” said Holloway on Quest’s EFL Highlight Show (21:13, Saturday March 9th).

OPINION

Leeds have completely transformed under Bielsa so to put your finger on the most impressive change he has made is actually quite difficult. Yet Holloway seemed convinced that the manager implementing a defend-from-the-front attitude was what was working wonders. Last season Leeds looked more likely to be leaving the Championship by getting relegated rather than promoted, however under Bielsa they seem Premier League bound one way or another. The experienced manager is practically working with the same group of players that were at Elland Road last season but is getting way more out of them. This is a testament to his skills as a manager and just shows the amazing job he has been able to do since arriving. Leeds currently sit second in the table, two points behind league-leaders Norwich City, but know they have to keep racking up results to get automatic promotion as Sheffield United are breathing down their necks.
