Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy may sanction a summer move for Fiorentina attacker Federico Chiesa despite the player having a £70million price tag, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claims that Spurs are keen on signing the 21-year-old winger with the club’s spies having putting him top of the wishlist.

The Sun report that Mauricio Pochettino would love a new attacking face added to his team in order to challenge for major honours and Levy may pursue Chiesa in order to keep the manager happy.

It is believed that Levy would have to dig deep for the winger and may need to sell players in order to fund a move, but that the club are serious about the player who is widely tipped to turn into a superstar.

Good move for Tottenham?

Yes, signing Chiesa is a move worthy of any Spurs fans dream.

According to The Sun’s report the 21-year-old is wanted by Chelsea, Juventus, Inter Milan as well as AC Milan and you don’t attract that calibre of team by accident.

Chiesa has scored 11 goals, while assisting eight, in his 29 outings this season and would boost Spurs’ current attacking options.

The winger can play on the right-flank as well as the left and would give Pochettino options when it comes to how to use him.

Also given that Chiesa is still only 21-years-old, not only could he help Spurs upon joining but he would continue to get better.

The only reason a move for the winger is bad, is that you feel £70million would be the majority of the club’s summer transfer budget and result in him being their only signing.

Likely to happen?

Spurs face tough competition for Chiesa and it’s not like them to sanction a £70million spend.

However it is believable that Levy will be looking to keep Pochettino happy due to not wanting him to be lured away and it’s understandable that Spurs may be willing to invest in the 21-year-old due to his potential resale value.

According to The Sun’s report Chiesa is keen on a move to London and with Chelsea potentially having a transfer ban to contend with, that does put the ball in Spurs’ court.

So there’s a chance Spurs will at least attempt to sign the winger, but until proven otherwise, no one will confidently back them spending big.
