A section of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to lay into Kalvin Phillips after their team’s 2-0 Championship win over Rotherham on Saturday.
United maintained their 100 per cent start to the season in all competitions with a third triumph out of four at Elland Road as goals from Kemar Roofe and Luka Ayling secured the three points.
But some Leeds supporters were disappointed with the performance of Phillips, who has started all four of those matches.
This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets:
I thought Phillips was relatively poor today, too many misplaced passes for my liking. Berardi was my MOTM.

Got to learn from today to say the side we played against we were very ordinary Phillips had a nightmare as well wins a win but depends if you wanna look at bigger picture or not

Yeah thought he was very careless. Gave ball away where that lad hit post. And a CB pairing of Cooper & Berardi just isn’t gonna be sustainable for the season.

Phillips couldn’t pass water in the first half …he was awful…much better in the second but let’s not give him the Iniesta comparisons just yet…

COMMENTARY:
Even when the garden is rosy and all the flowers are in full bloom and have never looked better, there are always some dissenters pointing out the odd flaw, perhaps a rough patch of lawn or some wilting plant. Leeds were not as good in their win over Rotherham as they were in demolishing Stoke City and Derby County in their two league openers, and Phillips perhaps did not control the match in the same way. But it was always going to be a different type of match to the first two, as Leeds hoarded possession against a side arriving at Elland Road as underdogs. In his role playing in front of the back four, Phillips saw a huge amount of the ball and, as the fans pointed out on social media, some of his first-half distribution was awry. But the 22-year-old grew into the game and was far more effective in his distribution as United took the match by the scruff of the neck in the second half. Certainly, Phillips needs to work on his passing and composure, but he has already come on leaps and bounds under Marcelo Bielsa.
