Leeds United are on the verge of signing Chelsea attacking midfielder Izzy Brown, according to Phil Hay.
The Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent revealed on his personal Twitter account on Thursday lunchtime that the Championship giants are “in the process” of recruiting Brown, 21, on a season-long loan.
Hay explained the deal has “been in the pipeline for a little while” but Leeds have held off on finalising because he suffered a serious knee injury and has only recently returned to training.
As is becoming clear, Leeds in the process of signing midfielder Izzy Brown from Chelsea on a season-long loan. Been in the pipeline for a little while now. He’s been back in training for a few weeks after a serious knee injury. #lufc

OPINION
Brown is not a player who will go straight into the Leeds line-up. He is working his way back from a knee problem that has sidelined him since January, and he is likely to be some way short of fitness. But the rising star has genuine pedigree and a record that not only demands respect but suggests he can make a huge impact for the Yorkshire giants this season. Brown was integral to Huddersfield’s promotion two seasons ago and has also had loans at Rotherham and Vitesse Arnhem, as well as Premier League outfit Brighton last season. Capped by England at Under-20 international, Brown is at his best in a central second striker role rather than out wide, and it appears United are trying to sign him to provide quality cover for Samuel Saiz. The Spaniard has started the season on fire, but Leeds are mindful of his 2017-18 winter of discontent after his six-match spitting ban, and are keen to avoid a repeat of the team plummeting down the table if he loses his mojo again.
