Leeds United could sign off three more transfers before the summer window shuts, according to Phil Hay.

The Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent delivered an update this morning in a Twitter exchange with a supporter on the Championship leaders’ plans ahead of the cut-off tomorrow night.

Hay explained that one signing is expected – an attacking midfielder on a season-long loan – and there could be two senior departures in the shape of midfield duo Eunan O’Kane and Vurnon Anita.

OPINION

Leeds fans would be happy if their club recruited one more player, and the collateral damage was the exits of frozen-out pair Anita and O’Kane. Anita has done little wrong since signing as a free agent last summer, but it is telling that three managers, including the feted Marcelo Bielsa, have handed him only a fringe role. As for O’Kane, he was dreadful in the second half of last season and the form of Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich means there has been no way back in for him, despite the summer exit of Ronaldo Vieira. Hay has dropped a few clues in recent days about the kind of player Leeds are working to bring in, although the experienced journalist has stopped short of naming him. It appears he is a playmaker at a Premier League club who has been identified as a back-up to Samuel Saiz. That sounds like a rainy-day option, which could come in handy if Saiz goes missing as he did in the second half of last season.
