Leeds United are in the hunt to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn on loan as they eye up competition for Bailey Peacock-Farrell for next season, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The newspaper claims on their website that Gunn, 22, is firmly on Leeds’ radar with the club set to cash in on Felix Wiedwald, who signed from Werder Bremen for £500,000 less than a year ago.

It is understood that Andy Lonergan may also leave Elland Road so the Whites are eyeing up a season-long loan for 6ft 4in colossus Gunn, who has been tipped for big things at Premier League champions Manchester City.

Good move for Leeds?

Absolutely. Gunn has already earned one call-up for England and will bound to be a regular name in the Three Lions squad once he starts to play senior football season-after-season.

The shot-stopper was impressive while on loan at Norwich this term, appearing 51 times across all competitions and earning 16 clean sheets in the process.

With Wiedwald and Lonergan set to leave, Leeds do need another goalkeeper and Gunn would be a top addition for the season.

Likely to happen?

There is bound to be a lot of interest in Gunn this summer and there are teams in the Championship who are looking for a goalkeeper who is a nailed-on number one.

Gunn might not be that at Elland Road with Peacock-Farrell in such good form, so there’s a chance that he could snub the Whites in favour of one of their second-tier rivals.

Man City are bound to let him leave on loan, but it’s just hard to see them sending him somewhere where he won’t be the first name on the teamsheet every week like what he was at Norwich.
