Barnsley attacker Oliver McBurnie continued his red-hot form with another Championship goal on Tuesday night – and Leeds United fans on Twitter are desperate for the club to sign him up for next season.
The 21-year-old striker is currently on loan with Barnsley until the end of the season from Swansea City, but his contract with the Premier League outfit expires in the summer.
He has made a brilliant impact at Oakwell since his arrival and now scored six goals in just eight league appearances.
McBurnie scored the opening goal in a 1-1 draw with Norwich in midweek for Paul Heckingbottom’s former side and they are three points above the relegation places.
The Scotsman is a centre-forward by trade, but has really thrived as a left-winger with Barnsley and been prolific in front of goal.
Leeds fans on social media believe that they should be trying to sign McBurnie in the summer when he is a free agent.
The Whites have had problems in attack all season and even Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s little streak couldn’t provide them with enough goals.
Some Leeds fans are already beginning to thinking about launching a new promotion bid next season and feel a new frontline attacker is key.
This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets:
Would be really tempted to get Ollie McBurnie in summer. Hecky signed him on loan at Barnsley before he came here. Smashing goals in for fun at the moment, young player who's got years to develop.
Also, he's a Leeds lad, (possibly a Leeds fan too). Surely the perfect fit. #lufc
